Naples

Again, we're dealing with bad internet connections and aren't able to post photos from today.

We arrived in Naples after a 3 1/2 hour train ride from Florence which passed through Rome about half way. The evening before at dinner, the table next to us was describing that Milan is like Sao Paulo and Naples is like Rio de Janeiro (for those who have been) so we expected a lively city in a very beautiful setting but also a very high crime rate where anything can happen. If we had to describe Naples, that's exactly what our impression was and it's lucky we researched beforehand to stay in the best neighborhood.

For us, Naples is about some of the best food in Italy as the region introduced pasta and pizza. Neapolitan pizza is thin wheat crust and classically topped 'margherita style' simply with fresh tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and fresh basil. After sampling a couple local pies, it's amazing to think how difficult it is to get something that tastes as good back home since the ingredients are so simple. To finish the meals, we ordered limoncello which is made from soaking lemon rinds in alcohol and sugar. Eating this much is unsustainable and we'll have a lot of exercise to do once we get back home.

The rest of the day needs to have pictures attached so we'll try to get those up tomorrow at some point if we can get a cooperative internet connection.

Its smart that you are staying at the good neighborhood of Naples, I gotta try the limoncello one day, it appears tasty! The neopolitan pizza must have been delicious, I like italian food. I'm looking forward to viewing the pictures of Naples.
